Hawking uses trained birds of prey to move pest birds on from a site naturally. When pigeons or gulls have settled on a large roof, yard or open structure, the presence of a hawk tells them the area is no longer safe, and they relocate without harm.

To get started, pop your postcode into the checker on this page and we will confirm there is a local team able to carry out hawking visits near you.

When Hawking Works Best

  • Large or open sites where netting and spikes alone are not practical
  • Warehouses, depots, retail parks and food premises with persistent birds
  • Locations where a fast, humane reduction in bird numbers is needed
  • Sites that want a deterrent without harming the birds

How It Works

Our handlers fly the hawk over the affected area on a planned schedule. Over repeat visits the pest birds learn that a predator is active and disperse to roost elsewhere. Hawking is usually combined with proofing such as netting or wire so that once the birds have gone, they cannot re-establish.

All work is carried out by experienced handlers and our technicians are RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 Certified and fully insured. Enter your postcode above to check availability in your area.
